The Work of Laura & Harold Knight.

Published by The Studio Ltd, London

Art, Impressionism

London: The Studio, 1921. First edition. Modern Painting 1. Folio. Approx 41cm x 28cm.

Very Good. Black paper boards, slightly creased and corners bumped. 8 tipped-in colour plates. Original black wrappers lettered in white and ochre. Slight rubbing at spine.  Scarce, especially in such presentable condition.

Laura and Harold Knight were central figures in the Newlyn artists colony alongside Lamorna Birch, Alfred Munnings and Aleister Crowley, from 1907 until the end of the WWI. During this time Laura’s style became more impressionistic and The Beach, painted in 1908 (and in this  folio) was widely admired both by other artists and the public.
