Whimsical depression era story about a little koala bear who has saved sixpence to buy his mama a birthday present. Despite his best intentions he succumbs to the temptation to spend the money on himself, but good fortune shines and a truly wonderful gift is found. Ida Rentoul Outhwaite (1888- 1960) was a popular illustrator influenced by the art nouveau movement.
