This is third in a series of three volumes, the first two concerned with Australian and New Nealand thoroughbreds. The series concludes with the English and Irish notables, anknowledging the original home of the Thoroughberd. Mountier and Morris emphasise that the selection of fifty ‘notables’ is based on performance on the race-track rather than merit at stud and acknowledge the large number of people who were involved in the research and writing of this book, as well as in the breed and pedigree research, the painting research and the photography. An impressive volume in terms of production values as well as content.
