During his lifetime Dr Oscar Norwich (1910 – 1994) amassed one of the most significant collections of African maps becoming one of the foremost authorities on the subject. Stanford University acquired the collection in 2002 where it has been placed within a wider body of antique maps and Africana already existing at Stanford.
