All boards show signs of wear, scuff marks, small stains, L’Enceinte and Le Parthénon première série both have small tears to the joints at head and foot of the spine, Le Parthénon deuxième série has been re-backed with red tape. Moderate foxing to some plates, Le Parthénon première série lacks title page and plate 4 has two small tears, Le Parthénon deuxième série has a set of tiny worm holes through all the plates and final plate (136) has been affixed to the back board. All other plates loose, as published. Good to Very Good.
Picard and Fougéres were both renowned archaeologists and experts in Classical Greek sculpture and architecture. Albert Morancé came to fame through publishing fine arts and architecture. It is uncommon to find the four volumes offered together. Another impressive set of black and white plates.
