Melbourne: Georgian House, 1964. Signed, limited edition (No. 861/1000). Two volumes. Tall octavo, light grey boards, photographic dust jackets,  28 x 21cm, illustrated map endpapers. Volume one: xiv, 1 – 169pp. Volume two: ix, 170 -336pp, 264 b&w photographic plates and eight itinerary maps.

Very Good/Very Good. The jackets are price-clipped and abraded at the corners, and volume one jacket is chipped at the head of the spine and worn at the foot, the jacket of volume two has a 3 cm tear at the top joint and also minor wear at the foot. The cloth corners are sharp and interiors are mostly clean and bright except for some light foxing on the endpapers and faint yellowing to the outside edges of the margins.

A richly illustrated work on the early homes of Northern Tasmania. More than 130 homes are described and many more mentioned. The text contains brief accounts of the original owners, their arrival in Tasmania, their grants or purchases of lands, and accounts from early travellers of their visits to these houses.
