Sydney: Privately printed. Signed, limited edition, 32 of 50. Comprises an original signed etching by Sydney Ure Smith, an introductory essay by Betram Stevens, 12 reprodcutions of Sydney Ure Smith etchings (unpaginated), and a catalogue and descriptions of 70 etchings followed by a list of etchings issued as sets. Inscribed by Ure Smith to “Charles”. Paper covered boards with cream spine, paper label with printed title and design affixed to top board.

Near Fine. Red vertical mark on top board. Corners ever so slightly bumped, top right corner of top board shows some loss of paper, the other three corners slightly rubbed, fine throughout. Of note, the book is no. 32 of 50 but the signed etching is no. 27 of 50.

Sydeny Ure Smith (1887 – 1949) was a publisher and artist dedicated to the marriage of quality art and design with technically advanced printing. His etchings of old buildings mainly in and around Sydney and colour-wash pencil drawings are probably his most refined and individualistic work.
