1538 Latin Vulgate Bible.

Venundatur Venetiis [Venice], in taberna Libraria Divi Bernardini, Two parts in a small octavo; contemporary leather binding (leather at foot of top board scraped away revealing leather and gilt underneath – possibly a 19th or 20th Century restoration job). Pp. (8) including title, 471-115, last section unpaginated (Pp4 – Uu8). The New Testament has its own title page and pagination.

Collation First Part: Π8 (including title); A – Pp8; Rr2 – Rr8; Ss2 – NNN8. Lacks ten pages (Old Testament); Qq – Rr, Ss.

Collation Second Part: Aa – Uu8.

Good to Very Good. Some age toning to the first title page. The outer margins of the leaves are narrow – on one page so narrow the printed marginalia has been shorn with some loss of text – there are ten pages missing and there are two types of leather on the top board. All of these suggest a restoration undertaken to preserve this on the whole very attractive early print Bible.
